Doubling your coupons value in Central Oregon...

The Albertson's doublers only come out every once in a while. This month we had them three times though! You can check at the store to get the doublers for free. (Or for folks like me-- who making the trip to town is an ordeal--) OR you can pick them up in the Oregonian. The crappy BEND BULLETIN doesn't have HALF the coupons and doesn't give out the DOUBLERS.

Safeway has doublers all the time. They'll double up to .50 of ANY manufacturers coupon.
They will allow you to do most any number of transactions. We did nine last week one day. But I used the self check-- so it wasn't holding anyone up. A little more time-- but you can keep track easier-- I think.

Albertson's doublers double up to 1.00 -- but can not be used on a coupon that is valued for more than 1.00. SO-- they are no good on a 1.25 off coupon. (No more than 3 per transaction, and 3 transactions per trip in to the store. Just go unload and do another trip in) =0) They don't mind.

All the local merchants allow one manufacturers and one in store coupon, and if they double-- you can use the doubler for a third coupon on one item.

Freddy's will also accept ONE Safeway doubler per trip.
SOME Fred's checkers know the policies better than others. Make sure you have a copy of the policy on hand. It's not my favorite place to go unless I am getting a screaming deal.

Walmart-- take the policy. The Redmond store checkers aren't aware most of the time. Often I can explain it and they just fix it-- but one had to call a manager to prove that I know what doubling means, and she didn't. (No you can't double at Wally's. But she thought that doubling meant to use two of the same kind. So-- I would only be able to use one coupon even if I had two products. (this is the SECOND checker that thought this btw) She was wrong. LOL.... )

Buying Coupons online

http://www.thecouponmaster.com/index.php

So--- I have been spending about thirty dollars per week on newspapers.  All the advice we've been given says-- don't buy your coupons!  However, I can't hardly see why not?

I mean-- why have all that wasted newspaper sitting around and "purchase" coupons that you don't clip or use?

So.. my theory is that I am going to kind of double up for a short time just to see what happens.  I'm going to buy half the newspapers-- just to ensure I get the coupons I want based upon the previews each week.

But then, I am buying the coupons I really need/want from The Coupon Masters

I ordered $50 in savings today-- and my total cost was $5.  That's less than two Sunday papers here.

Will keep ya posted on the progress just so we can see-- is it worth clipper fees, or newspapers themselves.

Input?  Your thoughts?

=)

Have  GREAT weekend.

################################UPDATE!!!!#########################################
OK We got the coupons we bought.  I LOVE this SOOO much better!!

I get ONLY the coupons I want/need. and NONE of the excess paper scraps, or need to waste all the newspapers themselves.  I'm quite certain we'll continue to purchase between 3 & 5 papers each week-- but for the stock up items-- I am definitely going to just order my coupons.

WHAT A SAVINGS!!

Sample Menu and cost for this week

So-- I am getting some flack from friends who tease me about my couponing.  I KNOW.  I was a teaser just last year.  I get it.

But the NEED to share and HELP others is overwhelming within me.

Therefor, I feel I must give you an example of a menu and what it's going to cost per meal to feed anywhere from 5-8 adults.
Yes--- these are large portion meals, and we always make enough for all 7 of us, with just enough spare for that pop in visitor.  (which happens more often than you'd think!)

So the week's totals are $149.96 to feed a family of 7 all week long.
THIS has to be the cheapest we've ever fed our family, and yet-- we are eating VERY well as you can see.

We also eat boxed PIzza's from time to time on a "fend for yourself" night--- but for now-- this is a screaming deal for our family.  It's how we've cut our grocery bill down from $2,000 per month down to $600/mo.

Let me know if you have questions-- or need a coupon I might have!!  =)

REMEMBER-- NO COUPON INSERTS this weekend.

When it's a holiday weekend-- there's no coupons inserts.  So-- unless you are an avid newspaper reader-- don't waste your time and money going out for a bunch of newspapers that will be empty of inserts.

This week

Well this week I've only shopped Albertson's.  Remember that Monday was my $40 haul for over $300 in product.  SUCH a great day.

Then on Wednesday-- we planned an antipasta night-- so we had to make a trip for some specialty items.  Yes-- the crackers, mozzarella, and meats.

The meats we got at Trader Joes sooo much cheaper than Safeway, and Whole Foods--and it was downright delicious!   Spent $150 at Joes-- but justify it with the fact that if I'd gone to my favorite-- Whole Foods-- I'd have spent at least double.  So-- staying away from the spendy stores is helpful on the budget as well.  =0)

Then we stopped at Albies.  I spent $121 (with coupons and sales) and got $297 of groceries.  I felt really great about this, since it was a LOT of stuff that usually doesn't have coupons.

The mozzarella-- fresh in liquid-- cuz really isn't that the ONLY kind to get for a good antipasta salad?    Was $4.69 per container.   Ouch right?  HOWEVER, it was the dairy manager's special of the week and had a $3 off coupon on top!  SO... we scored TWO for less than the price of ONE.
AND we had fabulous cheese.

Crackers-- better cheddar, wheat thins, triscuits, etc were on sale and we had coupons.   About $1 per box.

Bought five powdered sugar.  Because I make so many cakes (for sale for other people-- not us.)  LOL.   and 4 C buttercream frosting takes a whole package.  For less than a $1 each-- this will greatly reduce the overhead on my cakes, and allow me to charge less for them!  YAY.  (Well until the sugar is gone.  LOL)

Today I am headed to Safeway to get the daily sale.    I believe today's sale is the Lobster Tails for $4.99 per pound.  (They weigh about 1# each.)  So-- tomorrow is egg dying, Harry Potter watching, Seafood Night at the Hansen's!)
Going to grab some of their fabulous shrimp that is on sale for $6.99 per pound as well... and some cocktail shrimp too!

Need to check the Albies fish sale-- as it's Friday and they have buy three get one free on Friday's.  So-- we shall see what we end up with.

Hoping they have Dover Sole on sale!  LOVE that.

Alex will have chicken.  LOL.

Have a blessed Good Friday all.

Hugs

Today I found...

So we went shopping for just a few things that are on sale.

We did well.  Saved over $40 on Tillamook cheese alone!!  (TODAY ONLY SALE!)

Then-- at Safeway-- our favorite new drink mix (Water flavor enhancer) called MIO had a STACK of $1 off coupons.  SO-- we took 8 coupons, and bought four from Safeway.

During our visit to Albertson's to get our Raincheck items, we found MIO on sale for $2.99.  We bought the other four there for $1.99 each.  A GREAT deal.

Betty Crocker Cake Mixes are on sale at Safeway for 2 for $3 today.    They had a $1.00 off one box coupon them-- so voila!  We paid .50 per box for them.  Mmmm LOVE lava cake!!!

At Freddy's we found our favorite Bagel Chips with a $1.00 off coupon, and they were on sale for 2.99 per bag.  SO... we paid only $1.99 for a bag that is usually $3.50!

Walgreen's has their brand of dryer sheets on sale BOGO.  A GREAT use of these is to store blankets, shoes, boots, linens, etc with a dryer sheet in them to keep them fresh between seasons!  And they are only $2.99 per box there.

Purex 3 in 1 Complete sheets (Washer to dryer soap and softener sheets) are on sale for a 22 load box for $3.99.    This is almost HALF price.    The purex coupon that came out the first of the month works just fine on these!!  Get them as low as $2.99 per box at Walgreens.

Glade candles are on sale 2 for $4.  With a 1.00 off two coupon, they are only $1.50 each.  Half price at least.

Milk at Freddy's is 4 half gallons for $5.  Chocolate milk included!  This is a great deal on chocolate milk!
They also have their cookware on sale.  Buy two get one free!  For the LODGE cast iron wear, Kitchenaide, Wearever, etc, this is an excellent deal!!

We also got four dozen eggs for free (they are on sale for $1.99 per dozen too so if you don't want the items that will them free for you-- then by all means use your two .50 off coupons from Smartsource.com !)
OK...

We bought 2 tropicana OJ= free eggs
2 SPAM (GROSS but Carly LOVES them) = Free eggs
Finish Gel packs on sale for $2.99 for a 20 pack, with coupon for 1.00 off at the FINISH website, get them for 1.99= FREE EGGS!  =0)
THEN-- we found four boxes of Colgate toothpaste with toothbrush free in the bargain basket for $`1.99 each.  ANY colgate product gives you FREE EGGS AND we had a coupon from this Sunday's paper for each one to be 1.00 off.
We got each box and brush for .99 and now as I type this, realize I could have gotten three MORE DOZEN EGGS FOR free-- but didn't!  =0)

This is the breaks.  When you plan, and don't re-think as you go-- you miss out.  =0)

Hope this gives you some idea of the items we found today-- and what kind of deals your coupons can do for you this weekend!

HAGD!!  And HAPPY SAVINGS!

First coupon blog!

OK.. decided to try a blog.  We shall see how it goes!

Want to have a place-- apart from my facebook wall--- that gives me the chance to give and receive coupons, great deals, and don't miss em kind of moments at the store.  It's been hectic trying to keep track of it all.

So-- now to explain the new coupon binder.  I started with accordian files.  Two small ones.  One for manufacturers coupons, and one for store coupons.

That was sooo hard to keep organized at the store, that it took too much time for me, and I was completely frustrated.

REALLY hate having to fold printed coupons, and place them into the little baseball cards slots.  So.. a binder just didn't seem reasonable to me.

However, in my banking career, I've had some great dividers that were pockets on each side of the divider.

Off to Staples we went.  I bought six packages of pocket dividers, and my binder.   Total cost was $28. 94

I have in this order:
1.  Empty front pocket.  This one is the one that has the coupons in it when I have my grocery list ready, and we are headed to the store.  These coupons are the WILL USE TODAY pocket.

2.  Four or five pockets for individual store fliers, double coupons, and the list of items I am purchasing at that store.  I also keep my receipts from this store so that if I try something new, and it's awful I can return easily with my receipt and the packaging.

3.  The pocket list.
